Energy and dedication marked Fred Raymon’s sports career. In 1962, after only two years’ competition, he was named to the All-American soccer squad – Potsdam’s first All-American in any sport.

Raymon, a North Country native, graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Ogdensburg  and received his bachelor’s from Potsdam in 1964. He led the college varsity soccer team to winning seasons in 1961, 1962, and 1963, and was named to all-conference and all-New York teams each year.

During his outstanding 1962 season, Raymon and his teammates did not allow any opponent more than one goal per game.

Raymon continues to inspire soccer players as an educator and a coach. He teaches at Ticonderoga Elementary School and has promoted the organization of a soccer team at the Ticonderoga High School.

Sports remain Raymon’s delight. He is an avid duck hunter and an ice hockey enthusiast. With pride, Potsdam College inducts Fred J. Raymon into the Sports Hall of Fame.
