Hall of Fame
Nick Verini, a two-sport star at Potsdam College, has gone on to become one of the nation’s top high school coaches.
Verini was a basketball and baseball player at Potsdam until his graduation in 1964. He was a member of the Bears’ first-ever championship team in basketball (1963) and was voted the team’s outstanding defensive guard.
Since his graduation, Verini has taught chemistry and coached at Massepequa High School on Long Island. His 1977 basketball team won its division title and the Nassau County championship as Verini was named New York Daily News Coach of the Year. His team won division honors again in 1979.
It is with great pride that Potsdam College inducts Nick Verini into the Sports Hall of Fame.
