A 1991 graduate of SUNY Potsdam, Michael Brown was a four-year member of the men’s varsity basketball team. As a freshman, he was a member of the 1987 team that extended the Bears’ winning streak to 60 games. Brown scored 806 points, grabbed 296 rebounds and had 99 assists as he played 103 games for Coach Welsh. During Brown’s four years, the Bears went 102-16 along with two NCAA East Regional titles and two SUNYAC crowns.
   
Following his graduation from Potsdam with a bachelor’s in industrial labor relations, Brown successfully completed his master’s in teaching in 1994. He then became an admissions advisor at SUNY Potsdam before accepting his current position of Assistant Director of Administrations at SUNY Brockport in 1995. In addition to his work at Brockport, Brown is a varsity basketball official for high school and junior college games. He also remains active in the Empire State Games, obtaining his most recent gold medal in 2005. He and his wife, Jackqulyn, have three children - Michael Jr., Miles and Mikaela.
