Hall of Fame
Fran Deyman, a 1979 graduate, was a four-year member of the men’s basketball team at Potsdam. The team won the SUNYAC championship during his last three years at the school. Demyan served as a captain his senior year .
Potsdam was the champion of the SUNYAC during his sophmore, junior and senior years. In Demyan’s junior year the Bears finished third in the NCAA East Regional, and won the NCAA East Regional championship and finished as national unners-up in the NCAA Division III Tournament the following season. Demyan was named first-team All-SUNYAC that year.
In 1978-79, Fran was named Scholar-Athlete of the year in the SUNYAC for all sports. His academic excellence also was noted by the economics department as he was awarded Outstanding Scholar for the Department at Honors Convocation.
He is employed as the commercial manager for Trammochem Company in Darien, Conn. Demyan is married and is the father of two children.
