Lacrosse player Joseph Schoener may very well be the greatest player to have put on the red and grey uniform for the Bears. What else can be said of the all-time leader in every offensive category in school history and Potsdam’s only two-time All-American in lacrosse?

A four-year starter on attack and two-year team captain, Schoener gained national attention, becoming Potsdam’s first-ever All-American in lacrosse after his junior campaign.

As a senior, Schoener set the school records for career goals (134), assists (102) and points (236). His goals and points records still stand today. Schoener also went on to repeat as All-American, capping an outstanding collegiate career.

After graduating with his bachelor’s in economics from Potsdam in 1985,  Schoener served as an assistant coach at the University of Rochester while earning his master’s in business administration.

Schoener remains active in the game of lacrosse, competing on the Indianapolis lacrosse club team. For the past ten years, Schoener has been employed with United Technologies Carrier and is currently the Carrier Brand Marketing Manager in the Residential Products Division.

Schoener resides in Zionsville, Ind., with his wife, Pamela, a 1986 graduate of Potsdam, and their two children, Katherine and Tommy.
