Sue Kornatowski, a 1977 graduate, was instrumental in starting the women’s volleyball team at Potsdam in 1975. She was captain of the team in 1975-76 and 1976-77. The team’s records were 12-3 and 13-4, respectively.
Kornatowski was also the manager of the women’s basketball team and a member of the equestrian club.
It was Kornatowski who convinced Dr. Bob Cerwonka to be head coach of the first women’s volleyball team. Coach Cerwonka held the position until his retirement from coaching in 1989.
An outstanding student, Kornatowski went on to receive her master’s degree in elementary education magna cum laude from Cortland in 1984.
She has taught elementary education at Adirondack Central School since 1983. She is a board member of the West Leyden Reading Center.
Potsdam College welcomes Sue Kornatowski for induction into its Sports Hall of Fame.
