Hall of Fame
A 1977 graduate, Tom Carvotta was named an All-American swimmer in 1976. Carvotta was a four-year member of the Bears swimming & diving team and also a team co-captain at SUNY Potsdam. Carvotta’s 1977 Bears won the SUNYAC title and went on to finish 15th at the NCAA Division III Championships.
Following graduation, Carvotta was a swimming coach at New Hartford Central. After that he taught at Utica Catholic, followed by a stint at Brookfield Central. In 1985, he started Carvotta Construction and is now a general director in Utica. In 2007, he returned to competitive swimming and recently competed in the 2009 U.S. Masters.
