Hall of Fame
A 1969 Potsdam graduate, Jack Groff was a four-year member of the varsity soccer team. As a freshman, Groff was named All-SUNYAC after setting both a game-high scoring record and a season-high scoring record for the Bears. In his sophomore year, Groff set a new record for most goals scored in a quarter with four tallies in ten minutes. Groff served as co-captain during his junior year as he broke Potsdam’s career scoring record while repeating as an All-SUNYAC player. He continued setting records with each goal he scored as a senior midfielder. In addition to soccer, Groff played a year each on the JV and varsity basketball teams.
Following his graduation from Potsdam, Jack taught for 32 years in the fifth and sixth grade at Northville Central School. During his tenure at Northville, Jack coached boys varsity soccer, JV basketball and modified soccer as well as girls varsity basketball, JV basketball and varsity softball. His varsity accomplishments included several league and sectional titles. Inducted as an individual athlete, soccer coach and basketball player, Groff was a three-time member of the Northville Hall of Fame. Now retired, Jack is active in Northville community life.
