Frank LaRose was one of the outstanding baseball pitchers of the 1950’s.

LaRose was Potsdam College’s mound ace from 1956 until he graduated in 1959, compiling an impressive 21-3 record with an earned run average under 2.00. He was undefeated in collegiate play until his junior year, when Siena beat him 4-0  with four unearned runs.

LaRose not only dominated Potsdam foes, he topped the nation on two occasions. During his sophomore year, he tied for the national lead in winning percentage with a 7-0 record. He came back his junior year to pace the country in earned run average by allowing just three earned runs in 66 innings for a 0.40 ERA.

A native of Amsterdam, LaRose now lives in Averill Park and teaches history at Hudson Valley Community College. He coached baseball at Hudson Valley for six years.

Potsdam College is pleased to induct Frank Larose into the Sports Hall of Fame.
